Wolverine Nordic Ski Club
Ironwood Michigan
"The Mountains of the Midwest"
We are a volunteer group that promotes nordic skiing in and around Gogebic County, which is located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  Our location, in the middle of the Lake Superior snow belt called Big Snow Country, provides us with snow that tends to arrive earlier, pile deeper, and last longer than anywhere else in the Midwest!  Abundant snow, coupled with the natural rolling terrain in our northern hardwood forest, makes for a wonderful winter experience.

Our rolling terrain provides trails for all levels of skiing from novice to expert.  The trail system consists of eight different loops for 25 kilometers of skiing for both striders and skaters. Our trail system is located on privately owned land and open to non-motorized use only. Some of trails are closed durring the year. Please observe and respect all trail signs and markers.

We operate from
donations and memberships. All of our grooming is performed by volunteers and the machines and fuel they use cost quite a bit.  We ask that you remember us when you pass by the donation boxes located at all major trailheads and our chalet for $8 a day.

The Warming Chalet' is located off of the Sunset Road trail head. Food, warm and cold drinks are available for purchase. Portable toilets are also on the grounds.

Should you ever wish to get in touch with us, call our chalet at 906-932-0347 and leave a message, or email at
uptrek@gmail.com.
